Aiea, Kaimuki to play mainland FB foes

Aiea and Kaimuki are among the Oahu football schools who are scheduled to play mainland opponents in the fall. Aiea plays at Centennial in Gresham, Ore., on Friday, Sept. 2. The next day, Kaimuki hosts Faith Lutheran of Las Vegas at an Oahu site to be determined. Kahuku, ‘Iolani and St. Francis are also scheduled to face mainland opponents this season. San Diego State, which played here in the Hawaii Bowl last December and currently has three players on the roster from Hawaii, jumped into the recruiting fray in the islands this week, handing out offers to a pair of Kahuku players. The Aztecs’ offer made it six total for Red Raiders defensive back Kekaula Kaniho (6-1, 170), who made the Honolulu Star-Advertiser all-state first team last season as a junior. Kapaa’s Unutoa up to 5 D-I offers

Hawaii has got some competition for 2017 football recruiting prospect Morris Unutoa. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Kapaa offensive lineman has received a total of five scholarship offers according to a student athlete advisor and coach at Kapaa. Joining Hawaii in offering Unutoa are Brigham Young, Colorado, Washington State and Vanderbilt. Unutoa’s father of the same name spent seven seasons in the NFL playing 86 games at center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills from 1996 to 2002. […]
