Kamehameha-Maui hires Afoa as FB coach

Ulima Afoa was announced as the new football coach at Kamehameha-Maui by interim athletic director Leo Delatori on Thursday. Afoa is currently the athletic academic counselor at the school, and also served as an athletic director at Saint Louis from 2008 to ’10. “We are excited to have Ulima Afoa work with our student-athletes,” Delatori said. “He brings experience in coaching athletes at various levels of football. Higgins steps down as Kaiser FB coach

Cameron Higgins stepped down as the Kaiser football head coach recently, according to trusted Hawaii Prep World and Honolulu Star-Advertiser sources. The Cougars have been without a head coach this spring and the school has not posted the opening yet, according to the sources. Richard Torres, an assistant under Higgins, has been running spring drills and workouts. It’s unknown whether Torres will be a candidate for the open position. Slots still open for GPA football showcase

College football coaches from around the country will be at the University of Hawaii’s Ching Complex for the GPA College Showcase football camp. The camp runs June 10-12 and is for student-athletes who will be in high school this fall along with recent graduates who are junior college prospects. Harbaugh, Michigan camps coming to Hawaii

Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football staff is coming to Hawaii for two camps in June. The Hawaii swing of the 30-city Michigan Pacific Island Swarm Tour begins June 26 at the Saint Louis School football field. Along with Harbaugh and his staff, University of Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich and Saint Louis head coach Cal Lee and their staffs will also be instructing at the camp, which is for student-athletes who will be in high school this fall. Kahuku’s Aliki Vimahi had an impressive showing at the Nike Opening regional event in Oakland, Calif., over the weekend and was rewarded with his 10th scholarship offer.
