Close to 20 sign up to be football officials

There is a football officials shortage in Hawaii and citizens are coming to the rescue. According Oahu Football Officials Association recruiting chairman Jim Beavers, recent notices in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser have led to close to 20 new faces signing up. The officials shortage has had a direct effect on the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s decision to schedule games from Wednesday through Saturday each week this fall instead of the regular Friday and Saturday slate. OIA making changes to football schedule

The 2017 Oahu Interscholastic Association football schedule that was circulated from the league to its coaches last week contained incorrect start times. USC offers 2019 LB prospect from Punahou

Punahou linebacker Maninoa Tufono spent last weekend participating in the USC Rising Stars Camp in Los Angeles and earned an MVP award for his efforts. The real award, however, was coming soon after. Tufono announced Tuesday on Twitter that in addition to being named MVP, he was granted a scholarship offer from the Trojans. God is always GREAT! Celebration of life for Marciel set for July 1

A celebration of life will be held for legendary prep coach Ron Marciel, who died May 27 in Kailua of natural causes at the age of 84. It will be July 1 at Mystical Rose Chapel at Saint Louis School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There wil l be visitation followed by eulogy and mass. A luncheon will follow at the T.C. Kapolei suffered a huge, at least somewhat unexpected, loss with record-setting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa’s departure to Alabama earlier this year to be closer to his brother, Tua.
