Saint Louis’ Cordeiro a finalist for Polynesian award

Saint Louis senior quarterback Chevan Cordeiro has been named one of five finalists for the Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award announced today. Cordeiro is a finalist along with former Mililani linebacker Palaie Gaoteote, now a senior at Bishop Gorman and a Southern California commit. The other finalists are Crescent Valley athlete Talanoa Hufanga, Reno athlete Brandon Kaho, a Brigham Young commit, and Mater Dei linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu. Kaiser’s Andrew Choi got to play in only one varsity game this season, but made the most of a second opportunity in the Life Champion Bowl on Saturday on Kauai, making two sacks to earn defensive player of the game honors. Choi had two of six sacks by Team White in a 21-14 win over Team Black.
