Former Kapolei quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, who threw for 6,703 yards and 64 touchdowns in two seasons with the Hurricanes before transferring to a school in Alabama, was named the 2017 Shelby County Reporter Player of the Year on Thursday. Kahuku athletic director Gillian Yamagata sent an email to the media announcing that the varsity football coaching position is vacant and that the school is accepting applications. The Red Raiders made it to the state final and lost 31-28 to Saint Louis under interim head coach Makoa Freitas this past season. Polynesian Bowl week in Hawaii has added an extra event for current high school seniors looking to earn a scholarship opportunity in college.
