Wrestling: Week 3 Pound for pound

By Jerry Campany on December 25, 2014

As expected, the officials tournament shook things up a little bit. Nobody had more of an impact than ‘Iolani’s Jordan Ng, who dropped Lahainaluna’s Christian Balagso from No. 3 with a narrow 4-3 win. Balagso, a two-time state runner up, fought back to take third place but the damage was done. Ng went on to reach the final, where he lost to Kamehameha’s Blaysen Terukina. Balagso dropped all the way down to No. 10 with the loss, moving those behind […]

By Jason Kaneshiro on December 21, 2014

Jordan Tanuvasa’s scoring highlighted Punahou’s victory over McKinley in the championship game of the Pete Smith Classic on Saturday. But Punahou coach Darren Matsuda also praised the other phases of his play at point guard after the 55-46 win at Kalaheo’s gym. “Especially in the second half he did an excellent job of distributing the ball, taking really good shots and being aggressive and that was the difference in the game,” Matsuda said. Tanuvasa opened the game by knocking down […]
