The Trojans had a 16-game winning streak end against the Patriots, who one week earlier came to Aloha Stadium and lost 43-16 to the […]

Waianae scored 90 without running up score

By Jason Kaneshiro on September 6, 2015

A perfect storm produced an outcome that figures to resonate beyond Saturday’s round up of high school football scores. Facing an overmatched McKinley team, Waianae stayed on the ground to generate 453 yards in a record-breaking 90-0 win at Roosevelt’s Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. The Seariders stayed relatively basic in the running game, didn’t attempt a pass and played their entire roster by the end of the second quarter in the OIA Red game. Ten Waianae players had carries in the […]

Nowhere to run, so ‘Canes get airborne

By Paul Honda on September 6, 2015

It’s not the recent release of Madden 16 that’ll have these numbers for any QB in a single game: 42 completions, 67 pass attempts, 448 yards with four TDs, three INTs. It was a good night’s work for Kapolei’s Taulia Tagovailoa as the Hurricanes got past Moanalua 33-21 on Saturday. Even with at 6.7 yards per attempt, it wasn’t sheer luck that the freshman was consistent with his connections to eight different receivers. Not many fans would’ve blamed the Hurricanes […]

Mililani aftermath: Down goes No. 1

By Billy Hull on September 5, 2015

At halftime of Friday night’s game between Mililani and Liberty (Nev.) High, Tim Guesman, who covered the game for the Star-Advertiser in Henderson, Nev., texted, “Liberty takes a knee and we are at the half. I need a medic. STAT.” The Patriots led 39-32 and combined with the Trojans to pile up 712 total yards, making the stat-keeping job tough for any reporter. Guesman was in the middle of a shootout that most felt Mililani was well-equipped to handle. It […]
