Awards continue to pile up for Alo

Jocelyn Alo was one of 12 new inductees to the prestigious Hawaii Hall of Honor on Sunday night. By Monday morning, the two-time All-State position player of the year in softball picked up another honor. She is the Gatorade Hawaii softball player of the year. Alo, a catcher, will be heading to Oklahoma on scholarship in the fall. The 5-foot-8 senior led Campbell to a 25-5-1 record and the Division I state title. She batted .571 with 12 home runs, […]

Jaeden Yoro is a big Tua Tagovailoa fan, and told him so. A second later, the Saint Louis quarterback and recent graduate gave his Hawaii Hall of Honor poster board to the young All-Blacks player. OIA football schedule tough on certain schools

The algorithms that make up the OIA football schedule didn’t do Kaiser any favors this year. The OIA’s fall football schedule features midweek games to address the lack of qualified officials. Kaiser football coach Arnold Martinez was the most vocal critic before the schedule was released. Once the schedule was officially released, all of Martinez’s fears were realized. Micah Jio is one part of the formula that led the Maui Sabers — the second-place-in-the-Maui-Interscholastic-League Maui Sabers — to the 2017 state baseball championship.
