Kamehameha and Farrington haven’t played a meaningful game since Onosai Tanuvasa toted the rock for the Governors more than 40 years ago, but Friday’s clash means more than most. Cal Lee was in a joking mood when told that he has never repeated for a state championship, and so he good-naturedly laughed it off. Technically, it’s true. Maui state champ baseball coach steps down

Maui High baseball coach Chase Corniel stepped down from his position today, according to a press release from Sabers athletic director Michael Ban. Corniel, who will become a vice principal at the school, led the Sabers to the 2017 Division I state championship in May that was capped with a 6-1 victory over Waiakea in the title game. “It was a tough decision, but I was provided an opportunity to better my career and support my family,” Corniel said in […]

Two title contenders from two leagues in Division II met on Wednesday on a sunny, hot field at Kaimuki. St. Francis, which came very close to winning the ILH D-II crown last season, visited a dangerous Bulldogs squad that will contend for the OIA D-II title this fall. It was, all in all, a highlight-filled matchup featuring a first-year gunslinger at quarterback for St. Francis, as well as Kaimuki’s second-year standout at QB, Jordan Solomon.

It is looking less and less likely that reigning Honolulu Star-Advertiser offensive player of the year Tua Tagovailoa will redshirt his freshman season at Alabama. Kahuku junior offensive lineman Inoke “Enokk” Vimahi was named to the MaxPreps Preseason Junior All-American first team. The announcement on MaxPreps.com lists Vimahi (6-5, 270). The Red Raiders are loaded with some of the top underclassmen in the country and one of the best is the 4-star Vimahi.
