Punahou jumps to No. 2 in girls volleyball

Due to two big Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I victories last week, Punahou moved up three spots all the way to No. 2 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Top 10 on Monday. The Buffanblu beat then-No. 2 ‘Iolani in four sets and also defeated then-No. 3 Maryknoll in five in the highly competitive four-team league. Punahou is just 4-6 on the season. HAWAII GROWN: Anae sets Utah kills record

Utah senior Adora Anae, who was named the Pac-12 offensive player of the week today, is the Utes’ all-time career kills record holder. The 2014 Kahuku alumna, who was named to the AVCA All-America second team as a junior, recorded her 1,621st kill in the first set of Sunday’s four-set win over Washington State to pass Kim Turner‘s record total of 1,620. Saint Louis remains No. 25 in the nation

Saint Louis, the unanimous No. 1 team in the state, remained at No. 25 in the country in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 released Sunday. The Crusaders (7-0, 4-0 ILH D-I) ran their overall winning streak to 12 games and have now defeated Punahou three times since their last loss — 33-20 to the Buffanblu last year.
