Football players’ parents file suit against Castle

The parents of three Castle football players have filed suit in First Circuit Court against Knights football coach John Hao, principal Bernadette Tyrell and athletic director Laynie Sueyasu as well as district superintendent Matt Ho. The suit — filed by Kyle Giron and his wife Ashleigh Giron on Wednesday — alleges that proper care was not taken to reasonably keep their sons away from harm. Akana resigns as Saint Francis football coach

Saint Francis football coach Kip Akana resigned Friday, according to a statement released by head of school Casey Asato at 4:50 p.m. Asato said he is grateful for Akana’s four years of service running the varsity football program. Akana also headed the intermediate program through the 2012 to 2014 seasons. Akana will continue as head coach of the St. Francis varsity baseball team. Bowl Series still wants Hawaii team in future

All is not ruined for Hawaii after Saint Louis opted out of an invitation on Wednesday to a national bowl game to be televised on ESPNU. According to Rashid Ghazi of Paragon Marketing Group, the creator of the GEICO Bowl Series, there is still interest in bringing a Hawaii team to Phoenix for the event in the future. “We wish Saint Louis nothing but the best,” Ghazi said Thursday in a cellphone message to Hawaii Prep World. “Hopefully one time […]

It was as close a battle as expected between Mid-Pacific and Moanalua. In the final eight minutes, the Owls of MPI soared for a 58-43 win in the opening round of the 20th Annual James Alegre Invitational at Radford High School. Colin Ramos scored 20 points and sophomore Elijah Kahue-Parker added 18 for the season-opening win. Owls coach Ryan Hirata chatted with Hawaii Prep World after the game.
