Lots of building blocks for O’Connor after 47-35 loss to Campbell

By Paul Honda on September 6, 2019

There is so much to build on, but the O’Connor Eagles will need some time to get over a 47-35 loss to Campbell. While the Eagles’ aerial attack was relentless, they trailed the entire way. Campbell led 21-0 in the second quarter and 34-14 in the third. The Eagles never tired, though, and finished with 412 yards of total offense. Most of that came on the constant rollouts and scramble chaos created by senior QB Dylan Simonton. He finished 33-for-56 […]

5-TD effort includes 2 pick-6 returns for Titus Mokiao-Atimalala against O’Connor

By Paul Honda on September 6, 2019

After two losses in three games, the Campbell Sabers were hungrier than ever. The No. 5 team in the Star-Advertiser Football Top 10 rebounded with a 47-35 win over O’Connor (Ariz.), and the balanced contributions up and down the roster were foundational. Five touchdowns by Titus Mokiao-Atimalala — three on passes of 62, 44 and 18 yards from sophomore Blaine Hipa — and interception returns of 44 and 81 yards were enough to fill a highlight reel for a lot […]

Last weekend’s 5-0 bonanza leaves Hawaii teams 7-4 vs. non-Hawaii teams

By Nick Abramo on September 5, 2019

It may never sound as glorious as those Turkey Day contests in Hawaii back in the day, when all of Oahu, it seemed, was off to Honolulu Stadium to watch intense football rivalries. But last weekend will go down as a historic time in high school football for the islands. As fans know by now, No. 1 Saint Louis beat Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 31-19 and then this week climbed the national ladder to No. 8 in the MaxPreps Xcellent […]

Campbell WR/DB Titus Mokiao-Atimalala adds Utah to offer list

By Paul Honda on September 5, 2019

With a second offer, this one from Utah, Titus Mokiao-Atimalala can see a fork in the road. The Campbell junior, a standout receiver and defensive back, also has an offer from Hawaii. That’s the school that has a commit from older brother Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala, whose primary position is defensive back. Both brothers pull ironman duty with a few other Sabers on both sides of the ball. The younger brother will have time to make a decision. While Tamatoa turned down […]
