Troutman’s 302 highlights year of big numbers

By Billy Hull on October 21, 2013

It took us a week to finally track it down, but there’s a performance worth celebrating on the final week of the regular season that didn’t get the attention it deserved. Both coaching staffs at Nanakuli and Anuenue confirmed that Golden Hawks senior Chazz Troutman rushed for 302 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-7 win over Na Koa on Oct. 11. Troutman needed 29 carries to break a 14-year-old school record held by Robert Naeole, who rushed for 274 […]

Tonga, Kahuku defense bottle up Waianae

By Nick Abramo on October 21, 2013

Waianae quarterback Kekoa Kaluhiokalani ran the option offense smoothly all season long. He ran into a major problem, however, in the Seariders’ 45-20 season-ending loss to Kahuku on Friday night, facing pressure from everywhere along the Red Raiders’ defensive front. Kaluhiokalani was tackled behind the line of scrimmage 11 times and finished with minus-63 yards rushing on 14 attempts. Compare that to Kaluhiokalani’s output of 423 yards on 104 carries in nine previous games and the picture of a stout […]

Mililani’s defense is for real

By Billy Hull on October 20, 2013

Maybe the headline on this post is stating the obvious, but it’s worth repeating after Mililani’s 21-9 win over Leilehua on Saturday in the OIA Red quarterfinals. The Trojans’ defense is legit. Mililani’s defensive unit failed to give up a single point as Leilehua scored on a fumble return for a touchdown and a safety. The Mules, who had scored 66 against Waipahu and 54 versus Moanalua in their last two games, were held to 145 total yards of offense. […]
