It took us a week to finally track it down, but there’s a performance worth celebrating on the final week of the regular season that didn’t get the attention it deserved.

Both coaching staffs at Nanakuli and Anuenue confirmed that Golden Hawks senior Chazz Troutman rushed for 302 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-7 win over Na Koa on Oct. 11.

Troutman needed 29 carries to break a 14-year-old school record held by Robert Naeole, who rushed for 274 yards in a 60-0 win over Waialua on Oct. 8, 1999.

He scored on runs of 64, 45, 12 and 5 yards and also returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown.

Troutman finished the season as the OIA White’s leading rusher with 964 yards. He averaged 8.4 yards a carry and 120.5 yards a game, leading the Golden Hawks to a 4-4 record, good for fifth place.

Troutman’s 300-yard game is part of a monster year for offense in high school. The following are the top-five single-game yardage performances of the season in rushing, passing and receiving:

Moanalua QB Micah Kaneshiro’s 469 passing yards are tied for the second-highest total in an OIA game during that span, behind Roosevelt’s Andrew Kamanao, who threw for 481 against Kalani on Nov. 1, 1991. It’s also tied for the fifth-most yards in any game during that span. Brum’s 445 yards puts him at No. 5 in OIA games. Makekau’s 220 receiving yards broke the ‘Iolani single-game record by a year, which was held by Raul Pacheco.
