Nerdpod: Receivers v3.0

By Paul Honda on October 7, 2016

It’s the opening week of the OIA Division I playoffs, OIA D-II regular season is still in session, ILH is still battling for playoff positions, KIF and BIIF nearing the playoffs. And only the third installment of Nerdpod WRs. Some additions to the list that I wish I could’ve added in previous editions. Only so many hours in the day and I just haven’t been drinking as much coffee as usual. But here goes and, yes, previous nerdpodded receivers have […]

Campbell’s Ramos a force in multiple sports

By Christian Shimabuku on October 1, 2016

On the football field, Markus Ramos certainly looked the part on Friday night. The Campbell senior leveraged his 6-foot-3 frame to haul in three touchdowns and used his long strides to separate from defenders. Despite this, football is not his sport. He has a promising baseball career and is committed to pitch for the University of Oregon, where he said the school will cover “about 92 percent” of his costs. “I wish I could play more because nothing beats playing […]

Campbell on a roll to end regular season

By Christian Shimabuku on October 1, 2016

Week by week, Campbell is proving that how you finish the regular season is far more important than how you started it. After starting the season with lopsided losses to Kapolei and Farrington, the Sabers have since gone 5-1, their lone loss in that stretch to No. 1 Kahuku. The Sabers gutted out a double-overtime win over Moanalua and then got their signature win in a 14-12 upset of Waianae a week later. After crushing Radford 52-7 on their senior […]

With wins on Friday night, Mililani and Campbell punched their tickets into the state tournament. Mililani defeated Leilehua 52-35 to clinch a Division I first-round bye in the upcoming Oahu Interscholastic Association Red playoffs as the division’s No. 2 seed. Campbell rolled to a 52-7 victory over Radford to sew up a first-round bye in the OIA Blue playoffs as that division’s No. 2 seed. All four teams who have earned OIA byes — Blue champion Kahuku, Red champion Kapolei, Mililani […]

HISTORY: The […]

There’s something special in Sabers’ new turf

By Nick Abramo on September 24, 2016

This was the upset special of the season, and it happened in a throwback sort of way. Campbell, clinging to stay above .500, laid the hammer down on No. 4 Waianae, 14-12, in what is likely to be remembered as a pivotal turn of events. You see, the Seariders (6-2, 5-2) were cruising along in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue, needing only a win over the Sabers to clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs. Instead, the Sabers can get […]

Are you ready for a whirlwind of football? TEN, yes TEN games scheduled for Friday night on Oahu. We will do our very best to keep you covered. Perhaps no team has an opportunity in front of them the next two weeks as big as Campbell. The Sabers, who started the season 0-2, control their own destiny toward getting a first-round bye in the OIA playoffs. Campbell (3-3, 3-2 OIA Blue) needs a win at home tonight against No. 4 […]
