By Paul Honda on December 21, 2018

It took all the energy he had at the end of a long day, but Oreon Courtney summoned up one final, exclamation-point windmill dunk to capture the slam-dunk crown at the ‘Iolani Prep Classic on Thursday night. In fact, this might be the most explosive group of dunkers at the Classic in several years. Last year’s champ was Kamehameha’s Kamren Victorino-Kato, but he was among the few who displayed true creativity, hang time and FORCE. The event is pure fun time for fans, and each year the […]

By Paul Honda on December 20, 2018

The close losses sting a bit for Hawaii Prep. Coach Fred Wawner doesn’t show the frustration. He is, however, pleased with improvement. Hawaii Prep rallied to get within three points of No. 7 Moanalua before ultimately falling 61-56 on Thursday morning at the ‘Iolani Prep Classic. “I like the way we played the last three minutes,” Wawner said. “23 (Geremy Robinson) was tough to stop in transition. He made the difference.” Robinson, a 6-1 sophomore, led Moanalua with 25 points. […]
