Timing is good for Farrington’s move up to D-I baseball

By Nick Abramo on March 4, 2019

Farrington baseball coach Eric Tokunaga isn’t promising the moon as his Governors move up from Division II to D-I this year. But, the timing is pretty good, he said. “We’ve got an influx of younger players,” Tokunaga said during a phone interview Friday. “We had freshmen playing varsity last year in D-II, so the transition will be easier. This year, those players are physically stronger.” Being competitive is what he’s striving for. “We’ll try to hold our own and stay […]

Defending champ Baldwin a unanimous No. 1 to open season

By Paul Honda on March 4, 2019

Shane Dudoit knows quite well the added benefit of silence, momentum and development — the crescendo — of a long, successful baseball season. The Baldwin Bears coach would’ve been perfectly happy with anything besides a No. 1 ranking. No. 4, No. 5, anything but No. 1, he says. Dudoit didn’t quite get that gift, but No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Baseball Top 10 isn’t a curse either. Coaches and media made Baldwin (8-1) a unanimous No. 1 with all 10 […]

The Punahou junior middle infielder orally committed to play at Texas A&M on Sunday while visiting the school. “I got the offer in the summer and it was kind of one of my top schools so I chose (Texas A&M) to be the first (school) that I go (visit),” Harrison said Monday. “It was always the school I wanted to […]
