Sarah Domingo completes OIA tennis slam

Pearl City’s Sarah Domingo once again proved she’s the queen of the court, claiming her fourth OIA girls singles championship. Domingo defeated Kalaheo’s Larissa Teramura 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 for the girls singles crown Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park. Punahou answers call to beat Kamehameha in ILH volleyball tiebreaker

The Punahou boys volleyball team received a “wake-up call” the last time it played Kamehameha. This time around, the Buffanblu answered the call. Jack Duechar had 14 kills and Kawai Hong added 13 as Punahou defeated host Kamehameha 25-22, 17-25, 25-17, 25-17 in a playoff for the ILH regular-season championship Saturday. Kaiser’s Curtis Chung Jr. goes the distance to beat Moanalua

Kaiser’s Curtis Chung Jr. was a model of efficiency on the mound Saturday against Moanalua, and he got a big-time defensive play from center fielder Jesse Stroede along the way to go the distance in a 4-1 victory in an OIA East baseball game at the Cougars’ field. The Punahou girls repeated as state champion and the Punahou mixed crew ended Seabury Hall’s three-year title reign. The race distance for each division was a half-mile, with a turn at the midway point. The Kamehameha boys finally got the better of Punahou, which swept the ILH season. The Moanalua cheerleading team changed its routine from a week ago and wound up nailing it Saturday. Na Menehune won the large division at the Zippy’s/HHSAA State Cheerleading Championship at the Neal Blaisdell Center. Moanalua scored 520 points in the five-team large division (12-20 squad members).
