Damien coach Eddie Klaneski is 4-0 for the second time in five seasons after a 56-14 victory over Canada’s St. Thomas More Collegiate on Saturday at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium. Klaneski, who is 43-40 in nine seasons with the Monarchs, is the only one out of 11 head coaches in school history to have a record over .500. Kapolei receiver De’Zhaun Stribling looked awfully good Friday for a guy who missed the entire week of practice leading up to the game. Stribling, a senior, caught 10 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown as host Kapolei prevailed 31-28 over Downey (Calif.) in a nonleague game. Mililani quarterback Brendyn Agbayani was replaced to start the second quarter Saturday against host Farrington. Instead of losing focus, he stayed mentally in the game and came back ready to go in the second half of the second-ranked Trojans’ 35-0 victory over the Governors. Pearl City’s offensive game plan was ineffective in the first half Friday against visiting Kalaheo. The ground-and-pound approach, led by running back Alii Gaspar, did the trick in the second. Gaspar rushed eight times for 98 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter alone as host Pearl City surged to a 34-13 victory over Kalaheo in an OIA Division II game.
