Kapolei pitcher Cira Bartolotti gave an oral commitment to play for the University of Hawaii softball team, according to Hurricanes coach Keoke Behic.
The Hurricanes are off to a 3-2 start in the OIA West, and Bartolotti, a junior transfer from Maui High, is an important part of the team. She had 12 strikeouts against Campbell and eight strikeouts each against Leilehua and Pearl City.
Bartolotti played for the Utah Firecrackers club team last summer.
“She’s a really good kid and a good student,” Behic said. “And her 65 miles-per-hour fastball is impressive.”
Behic said high school pitchers in Hawaii average around 56 or 57 mph.
“She has a ways to go, but her ceiling is high,” the coach said.
Behic added that even before Bartolotti transferred to Kapolei, he had answered some questions about her from UH coach Bob Coolen.
“He wanted to know about her character more than anything,” Behic said. “He already knew what kind of pitcher she was.”

Hope she signs. Faamui also from Kapolei also committed through his Coach and we know what happeded during signing day.
Not putting this pitcher down as all but just a thought she is not even dominating the OIA. Dani Cervantes had more velocity and dominated high school softball and didn’t make it to a D1 school. Did she get recruited as a pitcher? Hard to believe Coolen would recruit her as a pitcher. I think behic overstated her mph too.
