‘Iolani senior outside hitter Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres, who helped lead the Raiders to the Division I state final three years in a row for the first time in school history, was named to the Under Armour Girls High School All-America second team today.
Ka’aha’aina-Torres averaged 4.9 kills per set and led ‘Iolani to a 31-11 overall record, including its first ever Ann Kang Invitational championship.
The only senior on ‘Iolani this season, Ka’aha’aina-Torres also had 33 aces, 211 assists, 33 aces and 47 total blocks.
She was one of 11 outside hitters selected to the 24-member second team.
Ka’aha’aina-Torres finished her career with 16 kills, 11 digs and two block assists in a three-set loss to Kamehameha in the state final last Saturday.
EDIT: Ka’aha’aina-Torres decommitted from Missouri roughly a month ago according to multiple sources.
She has De-committed to the University of Missouri.
Good she de-committed from Missouri. The Midwest is 100% different from Hawaii. She would have been tremendously homesick there.
This girl is the best example of a perfect athlete and role model. She leads the team and motivates everyone around her. Her dad Malu is a kind and caring Individual who is nice to everyone and always giving back to the school in every way possible. He is extremely humble in his ways although his daughter has achieved so much success.
Wish we could see Punahou in the mix.
Does anyone know why they have been struggling for three years?
