St. Francis safety Wembley Mailei, a first-team All-ILH selection as a junior, has been invited to the 2018 Polynesian Bowl.

Mailei, who is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, is the anchor at the back end of the defense for the Saints (5-2, 3-1 ILH D-II), who trail league-leading Damien by a game heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

Mailei is the second safety from Hawaii selected to the annual all-star game, joining Saint Louis’ Isaiah Tufaga.

Mailei is also the 15th player total from Hawaii selected for the Polynesian Bowl, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at Aloha Stadium.

The next selection will be announced tonight on Cover2: Hawaii High School Football Weekly on KHON2 at 9:30 p.m.
