GAME NIGHT 8/12: Castle/Radford

Two Castle quarterbacks are competing to replace Jaylen Uyemura-Lee as the starter this season. Jamm Aquino / Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Two coaches looking for their first win at their current schools square off as John Hao‘s Knights, coming off a 42-7 loss to Damien in the opener in which they were missing nine starters, travel to Salt Lake to take on the Rams, who are looking for their first win under Lon Passos since winning the 2015 Division II state championship.

The Rams cut the deficit to 33-20 on a 5-yard pass from Randy Wright to Michael Pritchard with 5:30 left in game. The conversion pass failed. The one-play scoring drive was set up on a blocked punt by Andrue Ala-Peahi.


Iovani Alatini scored on a 12-yard run and the 2-point conversion (Matai Suitoni from Wright) makes it 33-14 with 58 seconds left in the third quarter.

Castle scores on a 65-yard pass from Makana Smith to Kalai Cabana-Zukeran on first possession of second half (10:48 left)

Castle scored a safety on a botched snap in punt formation by Radford with 47 seconds left before halftime.
Castle extended the lead to 19-6 on a 39-yard field goal by Cheyden Costa with 0:04 left

Castle scores on 18-yard QB keeper by Makana Smith with 2:24 left before halftime. Costa made the PAT.

Castle scores on 34 pass from Makana Smith to Elijah Catrett with 8:28 left before halftime. PAT good by Cheyden Costa.


Knights QB Jaylen Uyemura-Lee left game with injury midway through quarter. Makana Smith is in at QB. Rams have four sacks for 35 yards in first quarter.

Rams take opening kickoff and drive 71 yards on seven plays. Iovani Alatini scores from 1 yard out.
