Defending state champion Kahuku hosted Campbell for a scrimmage on Thursday, and a good time was had by all (except for the screaming coaches).
“Ever since Thanksgiving we have been going against our teammates,” Kahuku defensive end Lamone Williams said. “It was good to go against somebody else.”
Williams ended Campbell’s last possession of the scrimmage with a sack of the quarterback, making up for being blocked on the previous play and a long pass to start the 2-minute drill. Both teams came up with a few interceptions, and defense was definitely ahead of offense with the exception of one series when Kahuku ran the ball down Campbell’s throats and moved the ball down the field six yards at a time.
The Sabers provided the biggest moment of the controlled scrimmage, stopping the Red Raiders on a fourth and 1.
