The next chapter of the Kaiser/Kalani soccer rivalry will be written in two days.
Those East schools will both put undefeated records on the line Tuesday at Kalani, when Kaiser (7-0-1) visits the Falcons (6-0-2) with first place on the line.
Kaiser has scored 39 goals this season and allowed only six while Kalani has scored 26 and allowed seven.
Kalani beat Kaiser 1-0 least year for the OIA title the last time they met. Kaiser won the OIA in 2014 to break the OIA West’s 15-year run as league champions.
Makana Srivongsana leads the OIA East in scoring with 17 goals, seven more than runners-up Jonathan LeVine of Kalaheo and Truman Spring of Kahuku.
Kane Enomoto and Brison Kim lead the Falcons in scoring with five goals each.
The OIA West boasts of a pair of unbeaten teams as well, with Mililani (7-0-1) and Kapolei (6-0-2) riding atop the league.
They won’t meet again until the playoffs, though, as they tied earlier this year. Mililani has regular-season games against Radford (3-4-1) and Leilehua (5-3-0) left while Kapolei has Waipahu (3-4-1) and Nanakuli (0-8-0) remaining on the schedule.
Defending state champion Punahou leads the ILH, but it’s tight. The Buffanblu (5-1-1) and ‘Iolani (4-1-1) have each given up only four goals this season and Kamehameha (4-2-1) is looming.
Punahou visits Kamehameha on Wednesday, where the Buffanblu will try to slow ILH leading scorer Pono Halemanu. Halemanu has scored 10 goals this year with Duncan McKenna of Punahou second with seven goals. Tanner Shimomoto leads ‘Iolani with six goals.
Skyler Goo of Saint Louis leads Division II in scoring with 10 tallies.
