When Cal Lee says something about his football team, you can bet he’s not blowing hot air.
He called linebacker Noa Purcell “the heart” of the Saint Louis defense on Monday morning.
Lee’s Crusaders defeated Kahuku 30-14 on Saturday night in the state Open Division championship, and it was made possible with players like Purcell leading the defensive charge. Purcell was chasing down Red Raiders runners all night — the ones coming at him, the ones he flagged down on the perimeter and the ones who got past him that he had to get from behind.
In the second half, Purcell was hurt badly when his helmet came off and he was hit in the head by the helmet of a Kahuku player.
“Noa is feeling better,” Lee answered, when asked about the status of Purcell’s health. “He’s going through the concussion protocol.”
When asked about Purcell’s intense effort Saturday, Lee said, “He is the heart of our defense and he has a big heart.”
Purcell — who is 5 feet 11 and 230 pounds — will return at linebacker next season, when he will be a senior.
He’s a beast but toilolo is a MONSTER.

Purcell is one awesome player. He stepped up these past few games something saint louis really needed but like da bradda on the bottom said toilolo is one animo and tufaga right up there too. Haven’t seen a defense grow as much as this one. Can not wait for watch them next year!

St Louis should be the favorite from the ILH next season with all the defensive returnees. If they can figure out the QB situation, they’ll be in good shape. Punahou will have to rebuild after losing that insane receiving corps. Kahuku will definitely reload as they always do. What if Maiava transfers to St Louis? Or another passing team? Maiavas potential will not be maximized unless Tata utilizes an offense similar to Oregon with Mariota which involved read options and playaction from the gun. Should be interesting next year.
SL will have the best defense in the state for sure next year!
For me their defense will be the star of the show. They’ve been the under appreciated key to almost all Saint Louie’s wins. With Toilolo, Purcell, and Tufaga returning to lead I’m positive of a return to States. Tufaga has some offers which isn’t surprising. I’m really surprised that Toilolo or Purcell hasn’t got one yet. I’ve watched that Toilolo kid ball out and I can guarantee we’ll be watching him someday on the big screen.

@Jeezy, I remember that! He is the King of the S**T-Talk. Jeezy, do you also remember when I told 88 to show up and he came up with that fairy tale that he met a lady named Mahina and told him I wasn’t there.

Yup all they need is a qb that can throw it further than 20yrds. That’s the position that might now be groomed for next season.

#91 is Tui Tuitele, he’s from Kalihi. . . The kid been a beast since big boys(6footer since 6th grade). . .

Defense will be solid no no doubt. More concerned about Cal not retiring & the staff staying in tact. Another concern is getting the next qb to throw it more than 20-30yrds. Doesn’t seem like much but its a stretch.
