Both Baldwin and Maui won games over the weekend, so the Maui Interscholastic League Division I football championship is still up for grabs.
The Bears (7-2, 7-0) outlasted MIL D-I champion Lahainaluna 19-13 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in the league’s second round. In the first-round Baldwin took honors with a 4-0 mark.
Baldwin plays Maui (5-4, 5-2) on Saturday in the regular-season finale. With a win, the Bears would clinch the second round, the overall league championship and a spot in the Division I state tournament.
Maui, which improved to 3-0 in the second round with a 26-7 victory over Kamehameha-Maui on Friday, would capture the second round with a victory in the regular-season finale. If that happened, another game between the two teams would be held the following week for the overall league title and state berth.
