Recent Moanalua graduate Austin Matautia, who signed with Hawaii, was one of 12 players who made the final cut for the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team on Monday.

Matautia, one of three outside hitters selected to the squad, led Na Menehune to the state final as a senior and is the only OIA boys volleyball player to make the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State Fab 15 list in four consecutive seasons.

He was one of 12 athletes selected to the Hawaii High School Hall of Honor this year.

The Men’s Junior National Team, which was cut from 19 players to 12, has been practicing at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs since June 22.

Team USA will compete at the NORCECA U21 Continental Championship in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada on July 3-11.
