Former University of Hawaii signee Jordan Agasiva is spending as much time working in the classroom as on the football field.
As a result, Division I schools are taking notice.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound freshman at Pima College was rated by HawaiiPrepWorld.com as the No. 2 lineman prospect in a loaded class of 2015 (behind Saint Louis’ Fred Ulu-Perry). A first-team all-state selection his senior year at Mililani, Agasiva didn’t qualify academically and had to enroll at a junior college.

Now nearly through his first year at Pima, he is well on his way toward earning his two-year degree. As he does that, Division I schools are lining up to win over the services of Agasiva, who is already up to 15 D-I scholarship offers.
“I got a second chance to go to (junior college) and make everything straight and now everything is going great,” Agasiva said Thursday. “I’m not really worried about the offers right now but more just wanting to get back to school and grind it out in the classroom.”
Agasiva is currently in Hawaii for his spring break and went on an unofficial visit to UH on Tuesday, meeting with head coach Nick Rolovich and his staff.
Hawaii joins an offer list that already includes Boise State, Brigham Young, Central Florida, Colorado State, Kansas State, Louisville, Missouri, New Mexico State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Utah and Washington State.
“I was actually surprised when (the offers) started rolling in because going into JC, I didn’t think that I would be that big,” Agasiva said. “I just did my thing during the season and am letting it all play out and waiting patiently.”
Agasiva said he will redshirt his second season at Pima so that he can have three years of eligibility remaining at the Division I level.
It will also allow him to focus on his official visits, which he will narrow down later. The offers aren’t likely to slow down any time soon and Agasiva said he’s still in talks with a lot of schools, including Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State.
“My plan right now is just to go back to school and finish (the year) strong,” Agasiva said. “Do good in school and wait out my options and go on visits. Schools is going to be really hard and I want to take visits and stuff so that’s another reason (for redshirting).”
