UPDATE: #6 Maryknoll 58, #3 Punahou 50, F

This was a 13-all game after one quarter before the host Maryknoll Spartans went on a remarkable run. Michael Mercado-Smith, a senior guard, was the sparkplug with eight points in a row to begin the second quarter, and he also hustled for three of his four offensive rebounds.

Isiah Gelacio (five points) and Jordyn Perez (three points) have been nearly flawless at the point for Maryknoll. The Spartans have handled Punahou’s fullcourt pressure well, committing just one turnover in the game’s first 16 minutes, and Maryknoll leads 35-18 at the break.

Bryan Washington, their 6-foot-6 center, has been dominant on the glass with six rebounds and two blocks. Maryknoll is 0-3 in ILH play entering the game. Punahou is 1-2. The ILH gauntlet is merciless for teams, awesome to watch for fans.
