Who will be the first prep hoops player in the state to score 40 points this season?

Yes, Keala Quinlan is sometimes mesmerizing to watch. At 6 feet (or more) tall, the Roosevelt senior is a matchup issue for most OIA opponents. Tall with adequate low-post scoring skills, a smooth stroke at the free-throw line and an always improving 3-point shot, she could dominate the OIA East again.

Roosevelt is now 2-0 after a 64-51 home win over Kalani on Tuesday. The Rough Riders have lost so much guard talent in recent years, but Quinlan is still the rock. Oh, she had 30 points and 15 rebounds on Tuesday. If anyone this season has the potential to have a 40- or 50-point game, she might be the one. There are several talented individuals in girls and boys hoops, but most of them have pretty deep and experienced talent around them. Quinlan may have to carry a humongous load one of these nights, so 40 or 50 is a possibility.

Hope I’m there if and when it happens.
