The USA Today regional computer football rankings are a tough nut to crack.
Kahuku moved into the Pacific region rankings today at No. 9 out of 10 teams. Previously, Saint Louis was at No. 9, before falling out after losing 39-14 to the Red Raiders in the Division I state title game Friday.
Bishop Gorman (13-0) of Las Vegas is No. 1, and the Liberty Patriots (10-1) of Henderson, Nev., is No. 7. The Patriots played two Hawaii teams — beating Mililani 76-53 at home on Sept. 4 and losing to Saint Louis 43-16 at Aloha Stadium on Aug. 29.

The pacific region football rankings is just another person’s opinion. It really isn’t what it is until teams play each other, How the heck could Liberty (Henderson Nv) be ranked at 7th with a 10-1 record and Kahuku 13-0 ranked at 9th especially when their loss came from St Louis and Kahuku beat up on St Louis? It’s really not that important when there’s flaws and bias opinions on rankings when none of these teams have competed against each other. The thing that is important is that Kahuku is number one in the state not by bias opinion but proved it on Friday night and that’s the ultimate goal. Go RRFL!!!! Reload for next year because St louis and Mililani will be waiting.
Mililani is done. Kapolei, and Waianae will be Kahuku’s closest competition. But it’s looking like a rematch in the state championship with the amount of starters coming back for both teams.

It will be Kahuku against St Louis or Punahou next year. The homegrowns against the recruits.
Something tells me the Kahuku boys will leave the ILH and go back to be Coached by Coach Tata. National exposure,and ranking. Watch Kahuku come out in the spread offense. Then come out with Smashmouf. And using 11 total different players like a platoon system. Wow. ILH can go straight to public and not sit out the season.
I put more reliance on the USA Today polls than the MaxPreps; This late in the season, I think pollsters have seen/heard enough of most schools of have a pretty decent idea of how to vote. Don’t get me wrong, I”ll take 24th in the MaxPreps, but considering they had Mililani top 10 early in the season, makes you wonder. And in all honesty, I don’t know how USA today has Liberty ranked above us.
But honestly, outside of the top 10(many polls have more or less the same teams in their top 10), it’s really subjective.
