Farrington loses two premier players

A pre-game note: Farrington coach Allan Silva said two of last year’s starters, J.P. Saycon and Ryan Reyes will not play this season. Saycon, the high-soaring dunker who was a Star-Advertiser All-State Fab 15 selection, had surgery on his knee recently and will be sidelined for a year. He is a senior.

He played some basketball in the offseason, but the injury had lingered since his junior year and he played last season through the pain.

Reyes, arguably the best defender in the state, has already left school. The 6-2 senior has received his G.E.D. and is no longer eligible to play high school sports.

Without the two, Farrington, last year’s Division II state champion, is still formidable. The Governors face defending D-I state champion Kamehameha in tonight’s final of the James Alegre Invitational at Radford.
