Update: Punahou 35, Baldwin 0, final

Update 7:04 p.m. All in all, a dominant performance by Punahou. Baldwin’s defense was tough, fast, physical, but the unit was on the field far too long as the offense struggled to cross midfield much of the night.

Keelan Ewaliko was a bright spot, but he was chased by Punahou’s defense most of the way. They spied him endlessly and he never broke a run the way he did last week against Farrington.

Next up, Kahuku and Leilehua.

Update 6:13 p.m. Touchdown pass from Larry Tuileta to Malik Johnson on a crisp deep post route and Punahou now leads 35-0 with 9:07 to go.

Update 5:48 p.m. Incredible diving catch in the end zone by Punahou wide receiver Cody Lee gives the Buffanblu a 28-0 lead with 7:15 left in the third. Nice play-action execution by Tuileta on the fake end-around.

Update 5:13 p.m. A fake punt that failed for Baldwin gave Punahou the ball at the Baldwin 40-yard line, and the Buffanblu scored on a touchdown pass from Larry Tuileta to Ryan Tuiasoa — who normally plays linebacker — to give the Buffanblu a 21-0 lead with 24 seconds left in the half.

Update 5:01 p.m. Steven Lakalaka’s short touchdown run has Punahou ahead 14-0 with 3:13 remaining in the first half. Quarterback Larry Tuileta had a head-on-head play with a Baldwin tackler midway through the drive and Punahou called a time out, but he remained in the game and completed a few passes on the drive.

Billy Hull has the game story and Dave Reardon is “hanging out.” Ferd Lewis will have a column for tomorrow’s edition. Me? I’m covering the second semifinal (Leilehua-Kahuku).

Update 4:21 p.m. Punahou takes a 7-0 lead on touchdown pass from Larry “Tui” Tuileta to Kotoni Sekona with roughly 7 minutes to go in the first quarter.
