Aiea coach Wendell Say and Farrington coach Randall Okimoto have been big names on the Hawaii coaching scene for so long, how is it possible that they have met on the field only twice?

Say, the dean of OIA coaches, and Okimoto will face off for the third time in their careers on Friday.

Say has been the head coach at Aiea since 1997 and Okimoto has run the Governors since 2000.

It doesn’t portend good things for Say, whose Na Alii lost 52-0 to Farrington last year and 10-0 in 2010. That’s right, Say has never scored a point against Okimoto and the former running back’s Govs have had trouble running the ball against Say’s scheme’s in the past.

Aiea has not beaten Farrington since 1977, a six-game streak.

Notes: Of the six most recent losses, Aiea has finished within a touchdown three times … Farrington has not had a running back rush for more than 87 yards against Aiea since Mata Tiave in 1973 … Aiea has not had a rusher go over 100 yards against Farrington since Ernie Chung with 121 in 1977 … Aiea has never had a receiver go over 100 yards against Farrington.
