Kaiser’s Celine Lum broke the OIA record in the girls pole vault at Thursday’s trials of the OIA track and field championships. Lum won the event by clearing 12 feet, 1 inch to easily break the mark of 11-2 set by Rachel Craft in 2013.

The meet at Mililani narrowed the field for Saturday’s finals with the exception of girls pole vault and boys high jump. Campbell’s Maunakea Medeiros cleared 5-10 to edge teammate Zibrex Cabel to win the high jump. Cabel also cleared 5-10 and their 1-2 finish gave Campbell, the defending boys team champion, 18 points.

Kaiser, the defending girls team champion, gained points in the pole vault from Lum, Tommi Hintnaus (second, 10-6) and Kelci Robitaille (tied fourth, 8-6). Field events start at 4 p.m. on Saturday and running events begin at 5:30.
