POST-MATCH INTERVIEW

This was an epic match between Joshua Crimmins and Zack Diamond today, not so much with offensive success, but a battle between what may have been the two best competitors in the boys 138 weight class at the 2015 Chevron/HHSAA Wrestling State Championships today at Blaisdell Arena.

Though Crimmins (Punahou) is the top seed as ILH champion, many see Diamond (Mililani) as best in the state at 138. An injury at the OIA tourney derailed his league championship hopes, and he entered the state tourney as an unseeded wrestler.

That set up this brutally tough matchup in the opening round. This battle was close all the way: 2-0, 2-2, 3-2, 3-3.

Final score: Crimmins 5, Diamond 3.
