Saturday soccer: Punahou girls still got it

Anuenue Zoller and Kaile Halvorsen both scored as Punahou beat Kamehameha 2-1 in girls soccer on Saturday.

In other ILH games, Iolani got two goals from Kristin Hori in a 5-1 win over Mid-Pacific and Breanne Ihara collected a hat trick in Pac-Five’s 8-0 win over St. Francis. Emily Lakey added two goals for the Wolfpack.

The ILH boys went to form, with Punahou getting goals from eight different players in a shutout of Damien, Kamehameha getting scores from Christopher Jenkins and Keola Norton in a 2-1 win over Saint Louis and Mid-Pacific giving up a rare score in a 4-1 win over Pac-Five.


Castle’s girls provided the biggest surprise in the afternoon, getting a goal from Lauren Takasato and playing enough defense to make it hold up in a 1-0 win over Moanalua. It was Moanalua’s first loss of the year after six wins and Castle improved to 3-2-2.

Kahuku’s girls stayed undefeated with a 2-2 tie with Kaiser, thanks to two goals by Kamaile Aluli. Kai Hasegawa scored twice for the Cougars.


In other OIA East girls action, Kailua got a hat trick from Kyla Cantillo in an 8-0 win over Kaimuki, Asya Asato-Kahele scored twice in Roosevelt’s 3-0 win over Farrington and Kalaheo and McKinley played to a 0-0 draw.


Kahuku’s boys look as stout as its girls, getting two goals from Gabriel Pinheiro-Alves in a 3-2 win over reigning OIA champion Kaiser.

In other boys action, Moanalua got another goal from Tyler Morton in a 3-0 win over Castle, Naia Graham scored five more goals and Colin Kubota added two in Kailua’s 11-0 win over Kaimuki, Guhn Park scored four goals and Chad Morishige added two in Roosevelt’s 9-0 win over Farrington and Kai Morgan registered a hat trick in Kalaheo’s 5-2 win over McKinley.
