8 may be great in MIL football

Among the proposals to be offered at the upcoming Hawaii Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association conference is a layout for 8-man football.

Seabury Hall athletic director Steve Colflesh has worked with the Maui Interscholastic League on a three-year plan that would begin with baby steps. For two years, the league could operate 8-man football as a pass league with teams from Seabury Hall, St. Anthony and Molokai. By year 3, the programs would make the adjustment to full pads and helmets to play tackle.

Colflesh, a longtime AD at the school, has football coaching experience from his years in Southern California.

A sport requires at least three participating leagues before being considered at the state championship level.
