Pre-game: Farrington-Kaimuki, boys

By Paul Honda

The Kaimuki Bulldogs are gaining momentum.

The Farrington Governors? Depends on how you look at it. Kaimuki is 3-2 in OIA Red East play (8-9 overall) following a big 49-46 win on Tuesday over sixth-ranked Kalaheo. The Bulldogs have played better each week under Coach Kelly Grant.

Whether Desmond Tautofi returns after tomorrow (Jan. 15) from Las Vegas (Calvary Chapel) or not, the ‘Dogs are starting their usual ascent. Grant knows how to get his team peaking at the right time more often than not. He also knows how to utilize his personnel. This season, Gabriel Stietzel has stepped up as a premier marksman from the arc.

Farrington has been very competitive despite losing its four league games so far. The Govs have athletes in the post like Lancelot Williams; they nearly beat Kalaheo on Saturday.

Tip-off for this matchup is 5 p.m., an early start due to a live telecast by OC 16.
