On this date in 1982, Laotian soccer prodigy Sirideth Lanpouthakoun booted a 24-yard field goal with 3:32 left to help Kaimuki over Kahuku 3-0 at Roosevelt.
A 24-yard chip shot would normally be no big deal, but Lanpouthakoun missed his previous two attempts (from 27 and 41 yards) in the defensive struggle.
Michael Taamilo was a beast for Kaimuki against Kahuku’s formidible offense. He had three tackles for losses and helped hold quarterback Lane Santiago to 32 passing yards and running back Lakei Heimuli out of the end zone despite 114 yards on 16 carries.
Great article…but I don’t know how you “hold” someone to over 7 yards a carry. Lakei was a beast though.
Haaa. Not sure, but maybe it was a little sarcasm by the writer. Heimuli was legendary. So many elite running backs out of Kahuku.
