MAY 8, 2013: Evan Enriques keeps KS-Hawaii humming

Evan Enriques of Kamehameha Hawaii was a force in his day.

On this date in 2013, Evan Enriques overcame injury to lead Kamehameha-Hawaii to a sweep of Kalaheo in the HHSAA boys volleyball tournament.

The Warriors fell into an unseeded position after losing to Waiakea in the BIIF tournament, leaving them to face Punahou in the quarterfinal round.

It didn’t go so well, as the Buffanblu swept the Warriors on their way to a second straight title.

Enriques had 16 kills and six digs in that matchup, but Larry Tuileta led Punahou with 12 kills and Micah Ma’a dished out 21 assists. Enriques still made the all-tournament team and led his boys to the final the next year, only to lose to Punahou again.
