MAY 8, 1993: Kamehameha comes through without Nani Cockett

Other than “play ball,” there are no sweeter words in sports than “Game seven.”

On this date in 1993, Kamehameha and Iolani hooked up for the seventh time, but this one was for the state girls basketball championship.

The Warriors were without Nani Cockett for the telling contest, losing their all-star two weeks earlier because of injury. Her mates picked her up, though, beating the talented Raiders in overtime.

    IMHO,
Brandy Richardson, Shawna-Lei Kuehu, Lia Galdeira could all be considered GOAT of girls basketball…

I’m sure there is other players that an argument could be made on their behalf but Cockett was special . She had the skill and size that is so rare . She could put it on the floor, post up , shoot the 3 and also Had the vision to see things . She just impacted the game in so many ways . Just my thoughts
