Waipahu ball with :40 left, and on fourth down from the 30, Marques’ bomb to Jovan Gooman is a TD near the right corner, but Gooman is flagged for offensive pass interference. One more play, a 15-yard completion, ends the first half. I thought Waipahu was going to end up with a field goal try by Brycen Amorozo, but that 15-yard penalty pushed the ball back to the 45.

Kailua QB Cameron Friel hitting WR Landon Clevenger consistently on the deep out. Kailua has the ball at the Waipahu 48 when Friel loses the ball and it is recovered by Tyrone Niuatoa. Waipahu ball at the Kailua 47.

The Marauders drive to the Kailua 36, fourth and 7, and Marques runs out of bounds, short of the first-down stick.

After sputtering for much of the first half, Waipahu drives 62 yards in just six plays with a hurry-up, no-huddle attack. Marques keeps around left end for a 10-yard TD. Alfred Failauga was prominent with four carries for 32 yards on this march. WAIPAHU 7, KAILUA 0, Q2, 5:52.

Kailua’s first four drives ended with turnover on downs, and on the fifth, they finally punt. Waipahu has the ball at its 38, 7:28 left, first half.

Waipahu’s second possession goes backwards, and the punt is muffed by Kailua, but the Surfriders recover at the Waipahu 39. Kailua is at the Waipahu 29 when the first quarter closes.

Great field position for Kailua, but the drive stalls at the 12, and the fourth-and-3 end zone pass is incomplete.

Waipahu’s first play from scrimmage, a 60-yard TD pass on a double-pass trick play, is nullified by illegal man downfield. What a waste. That was perfectly executed. Who forgot about the sneaky trick play? The series ends with a fumble by QB Cody Marques, recovered by Kailua at the Waipahu 46.
