GAME NIGHT 9/20: Leilehua/Castle

9:54: Castle runs out the clock to end the game. Leilehua wins by a final score of 41-13.

9:49: Leilehua goes three-out-out. Castle gets the ball back down 41-13 on its own 37 with 3:03 left.

9:44: Kaio is picked off by Leilehua defensive back Julyan Mebane with 4:45 left. After some post-play penalties, Leilehua has the ball on its own 24.

9:41: Leilehua punts to the Castle 47 with 5:10 left.

9:38: Castle turns the ball over at the Leilehua 20 with 7:11 left in the third.

9:30: Kawela Kaluhiokalani takes an option pitch for a 7-yard touchdown for Leilehua. That probably puts this one to bed. After the PAT, Leilehua leads 41-13 with 9:38 left.

FOURTH QUARTER

9:24: End of the third. Facing fourth-and-1 from its own 38, Leilehua rolls the dice and JUST converts. The Mules have a fresh set of downs from their own 39 to start the fourth with a 34-13 lead.

9:18: Castle tacks on another TD after Kila Kaio throws a 25-yard TOUCHDOWN to Kala Matthews. Ian Rivera‘s PAT is good and Castle puts the deficit to 34-13 with 1:59 left in the third.

9:11: The Mules get their backups into the game and can’t pick up more than a first down. They punt for a touchback with 4:31 left in the third.

9:06: Castle is finally in the end zone after Brandon Frey fumbles a handoff but recovers in the end zone. The PAT is no good but the Knights snip the deficit down to 34-6 with 6:27 left in the third quarter.

8:55: Much of the same in the second half. The Mules drive right down the field, capped by Turangan’s 7-yard pass to Landyn Jumawan, to extend the lead to 34-0 with 9:23 left in the third quarter. Any type additional type of score for Leilehua will enable the running clock.

8:50: Castle goes three-and-out. Leilehua to start from midfield after the punt.

8:48: Castle will start the second half from its own 21.

THIRD QUARTER

8:27: Leilehua has one last chance to score with one second left from the Castle 10 and elects to go for it instead of kicking a field goal. Turangan’s pass to the back of the end zone is high but Leilehua leads 27-0 at the half. Castle will receive to start the second half.

8:17: Leilehua forces a Castle punt and will start from its own 37 with 4:02 left in the half.

8:11: This one has been very one-sided so far, as Turangan finds Jayzon Ramos 38 yards for another touchdown. The snap is botched on the PAT, but Leilehua extends its lead to 27-0 with 7:07 left in the half.

8:07: Leilehua scoops up ANOTHER Castle fumble from its own 49 with 8:58 left in the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

7:59: End of the first. Leilehua skunking Castle early.

7:57: Turangan finds Kaleikaumaka Akagi for a 9-yard touchdown on third-and-goal. Konapiliahi’s PAT is good, and the Leilehua lead is now 21-0 with 8 seconds left in the first quarter.

7:53: Could be getting ugly here, as the next play for Castle is a FUMBLE recovered by Leilehua at the Knights’ 34 with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

7:50: That miss was huge for both sides, as just a couple of players later, Jemell Vereen takes a handoff TO THE HOUSE for a 63-yard touchdown. After the extra point, Leilehua leads 14-0 with 2:11 left in the first quarter.

7:48: Castle drives all the way to the Leilehua 13 and decides to attempt a field goal. The kick is no good, and the Mules still lead 7-0 with 2:57 left in the first quarter.

7:42: Leilehua goes for it on fourth-and-goal from the Castle 1 and SCORES. Kekoa Turangan finished off the drive with a 1-yard QB sneak. Raymond Konapiliahi‘s PAT is good and the Mules lead 7-0 with 5:34 in the first after using a chunk of clock.

7:26: Castle will kick off to begin this game.

FIRST QUARTER

7:25: Heading for an early start due to the quick nature of the JV game, which Leilehua won 27-0.
