8:29: Game over. Kailua with an emphatic 58-6 win over Buckeye Union.

8:26: Clevenger with a 39-yard rushing touchdown to increase Kailua’s lead to 58-6 with 2:32 left.


8:21: Jon Tavares picks off Buckeye backup QB Andrew Ibarra to the Hawks 44 with 4:54 left and counting.

8:15: As if it wasn’t ugly enough, Kainalu Kaopuiki falls on a fumble on a bad punt snap for Kailua. Jones’ kick is good, Kailua leads 52-6 with 7:18 left.

8:10: Lahaina Kane carries the ball two straight times, capped by a 1-yard touchdown. Jones’ kick is good and the Kailua lead is up to 45-6 with 10:24 left in the fourth. The TD also enables the running clock.

8:08: Buckeye Union lines up to punt, but a bad snap causes a fumble that’s not fully recovered until Kailua falls on it at the Buckeye 3. Crazy play. Still 10:58 left.

FOURTH QUARTER

8:05: End of the third. Kailua leads 38-6. Buckeye Union has the ball at the Kailua 30, facing fourth-and-5.

7:54: A very long drive, extended by penalties, ends in a Brian-Allen Kamanu 4-yard touchdown. Jones’ PAT is good. Kailua now leads 38-6 with 4:51 left in the third.

7:40: Kailua gets the ball back for real this time, forcing a turnover on downs on its own 21 with 8:25 left in the third.

7:33: Kailua forces a Buckeye punt for a touchback, but a defensive holding call on Kailua gives the Hawks a first down at the Kailua 25.

7:26: After the second half kickoff, Buckeye Union will start from its own 35.

THIRD QUARTER

7:08: Buckeye Union gets into Kailua territory but can’t score to end the first half. Kailua holds a commanding 31-6 lead at the break, but the Hawks receive to start the second half.

6:56: Friel is just shredding the Hawks right now, tossing a 48-yard score to Landon Clevenger for his third touchdown pass of the day. He’s 7-for-12 for 208 yards, with a couple of drops. PAT is no good, Kailua leads 31-6 with 3:38 left in the first half.

6:52: Kailua forces another Buckeye punt and will start from its own 40 with 5:00 left in the first half.


6:47: Rasay, Friel, and the rest of the Kailua offense is looking unstoppable at the moment. Friel tosses an easy 1-yard touchdown to Kamryn Kahoonei. Morgan Jones‘ PAT is good, and the Kailua lead is now 25-6 with 7:10 left in the first half.

6:40: Buckeye is on the board. Angel Macedo throws a four-yard screen to Dillian Foster on fourth-and-goal for a touchdown. The PAT is no good, but the Hawks cut the Kailua lead down to 18-6 with 8:17 left in the first half.

6:33: Buckeye gets its best starting field position of the day, starting its next drive from the Kailua 25 after a personal foul on the Surfriders after the kick return.

6:31: Kailua converts the fourth down, then a few plays later, Samson Rasay takes it in for a 17-yard touchdown. But the extra point is no good, and that’s three touchdowns with no extra points. 18-0 with 10:39 remaining in the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

6:24: Kailua leads 12-0 at the end of the first and faces a fourth-and-short decision to start the second.

6:22: Buckeye Union goes three-and-out. Kailua gets the ball back at midfield with 1:06 left in the first quarter.

6:17: Friel and Koali’i Kohatsu connect on a swing screen for a 65-yard TOUCHDOWN. The Surfriders go for two but don’t convert, but the lead is up to 12-0 with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter.

6:13: Buckeye Union gets all the way to the Kailua 3 but turns it over on downs with 4:14 left in the first quarter.

6:04: A nice return by Buckeye Union puts the Hawks on the Kailua 33.

6:03: Kailua cruises right down the field on its opening drive, capped by quarterback Cameron Friel‘s 27-yard rushing score. PAT is no good but Kailua leads 6-0 with 9:31 left in the first.

5:57 p.m.: Kailua will receive to start off this game.

FIRST QUARTER


5:55 p.m.: We’re a few minutes away from kickoff here at Kailua High. Can the Surfriders keep Oahu’s unbeaten streak against mainland teams this season alive?
