Two penalties, 15 yards each, assessed against Campbell for infractions on OC’s touchdown. That’s 16 yellow flags, 183 yards in penalties by the men in black. Campbell recovers the onside kick and takes a knee.

OC drives 65 yards in 13 plays and Simonton tosses a 6-yard TD pass to Groff in the left corner of the end zone. CAMPBELL 47, O’CONNOR 35, Q4, :33.

A big sack by RJ Tadeo sets OC back to the 50. Desperation heave is clutched by Titus Mokiao-Atimala, who slices through traffic and races down the empty sideline for an 81-yard return, his second pick-6 of the game. WOW. CAMPBELL 47, O’CONNOR 28, Q4, 2:18.

Campbell sticks with Lactaoen as the single back. The Eagles sack Hipa, burn two time outs, and on third down, a quick pass by Hipa is dropped by a Campbell receiver and grabbed by OC’s Joseph Macdonald. First down for OC at the Campbell 36 with 3:45 left. Interesting…

The Eagles are soaring now on offense as Simonton engineers a 10-play, 45-yard drive. It began with a 40-yard kick return by Brian Hubbard. Simonton found Ortiz on a rollout, firing back to the middle of the end zone for a 4-yard TD. They elect to go for one point on the PAT, and it is good. Eagles trail by 12. CAMPBELL 40, O’CONNOR 28, Q4, 4:47.

A 59-yard kickoff return by Titus Mokiao-Atimalala sets the Sabers up at the OC 40. Six plays later, Hipa executes play-action and lobs the ball to the end zone, and Mokiao-Atimalala hauls it in near the corner for an 18-yard TD. This is his third TD catch of the game, fourth TD overall. PAT misses. CAMPBELL 40, O’CONNOR 21, Q4, 8:09.

Campbell goes three and out, punt downed at the Sabers 44. Right away, Simonton dissects Campbell’s defense. Incompletion, then a 12-yard strike to Alijah Galbreath, followed by another P.I. on Campbell. Ball at the Sabers 17. Simonton lobs a spiral to the left corner of the end zone and James Groff makes a diving catch for the TD. CAMPBELL 34, O’CONNOR 21, Q4, 10:06.

O’Connor just gashing Campbell’s defense at the end of the third quarter. Simonton breezes past defenders for eight yards. RB Garrett Olsen bursts for 12 yards. Then Simonton finds Seng for 34 yards to the Campbell 1. But Simonton is sacked for an 11-yard loss by Titan Jarra. Huge play, and Simonton tosses three incomplete passes. Campbell stops the Eagles.

Campbell loses momentum on an illegal man downfield call, but a 13-yard completion from Hipa to Ceruti. After the Sabers recover a second fumble by Aina-Chaves, they turn to Lactaoen for runs of six and seven yards. Another pass play cut short by penalty, and after two short completions to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala, it is fourth and 2 at the OC 43. Time out, Campbell, 2:04. Fireworks pop off behind us as Campbell takes the snap and Lactaoen is stonewalled by Gabriel Monaco for a loss of five yards. OC ball. Big stop. This team won’t quit.

OC drives 76 yards in seven plays as Simonton connects on all five of his pass attempts, including a 1-yard toss to Alex Seng for the TD. It gets messy on the two-point conversion attempt. Flag is down and a Campbell player has been ejected. Personal foul and unsportsmanlike conduct whistled on Campbell on the PAT. OK there is confusion all over this place. It was (we are guessing) offsetting penalties on the TD play, so that is wiped out. Meanwhile, Simonton scrambles, takes on two tacklers and in a scrum at the goal line, he scores for a 5-yard TD. Now, this is a legitimate 2-point try. Now Coach Johnson is conferring with three officials to figure out what is going on. There was no communication after the first (nullified) TD play with either sideline. Now the officials are conferring, no doubt to clarify what just happened in the past five minutes. And now Campbell calls time out. It’s 34-12 with 6:58 left in the third quarter. That was a gutsy play by Simonton. His stats aren’t going to be golden, but he is a big part of the spirit and heart of this Eagles team. And he is elusive. Reminds me of a younger Doug Flutie, just 5-11 instead of 5-9. Alijah Galbreath hauls in the play-action pass from Simonton on the PAT. CAMPBELL 34, O’CONNOR 14, Q3, 6:58.

Opening series of the second half. Eagles go three and out, punt bounces near midfield and is nearly touched by Campbell’s return man. Campbell drives into OC territory and a deep pass by Hipa is picked off. However, three flags are down, pass interference. Next play, Aina-Chaves bursts up the middle for a 21-yard TD, his second of the game, and he is over the century mark now with 108 yards on 14 carries. PAT is partially blocked. CAMPBELL 34, O’CONNOR 6, 9:18.

The gusts have died down since the sun went down during the first half. Calm and perfect now.
The sophomore, Hipa, has 158 yards on 10-for-16 passing with three TDs and one interception. Titus Mokiao-Atimalala has four receptions for 101 yards with one TD on offense and one with a 44-yard interception return. RB Bubbah Aina-Chaves has 80 yards on 11 carries.

Simonton is 12-for-23, 148 yards and a TD. He has thrown three picks, including one on the last play of the first half that was a Hail Mary. OC has 16 rushing yards on 13 carries, and 164 yards in total offense. Campbell has 269 yards of total offense. And now, it’s a halftime fireworks show provided by the neighbors of Ewa Beach. Classic.

The Eagles are resilient. With less than a minute until halftime, Simonton scrambles for a 14-yard gain to the OC 35. Then he launches a spiral downfield, pass interference on Campbell. The Sabers call time out and Coach Darren Johnson gives his team an earful with :20 left.

Campbell returns the favor with its second interception of Simonton. Shace Paaaina returns the ball for short bit to the 50. It’s fourth and 6 at the OC 34. It’s that man again. Hipa finds Titus Mokiao-Atimalala running across the secondary and he sprints to the right pylon for a 34-yard TD. He is the game-breaker and game-changer. CAMPBELL 28, O’CONNOR 6, Q2, :41.

Sabers driving past midfield, but a deep pass by Hipa is overthrown and intercepted by safety Ethan Ososkie. O’Connor ball at its 39.

The Eagles show their mettle and drive for their first TD. Simonton finds Daymian Stewart for a 4-yard TD toss on play-action. That was key. The Eagles had called time out before the third-down play call after being stuffed in the trenches on two run attempts. PAT kick misses. CAMPBELL 21, O’CONNOR 6, Q2, 6:34.

Touchback on the ensuing kickoff, and three plays later, it’s Mokiao-Atimalala again, intercepting a pass down the seam and he sprints to the left pylon for a 44-yard pick-6. WOW. CAMPBELL 21, O’CONNOR 0, Q2, 9:53.

Two plays after the Eagles’ turnover on downs, Hipa sends a bomb to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala down the left sideline for a 62-yard TD. CAMPBELL 14, O’CONNOR 0, Q2, 10:50.

O’Connor nearly converts on third down, but a near-reception is ruled a bobble as the receiver went out of bounds. LB Peter Manuma then sacks QB Dylan Simonton and Campbell takes over at its 37.

The first quarter ends with O’Connor at the Campbell 25.

Campbell strikes gold on its second series. Sixty yards in 11 plays, with QB Blaine Hipa to WR Zavier Ceruti on a play-action toss for a 5-yard TD. That was a big drive on the ground. Aina-Chaves bounced back from the fumble and ran four times for 30 yards. He has seven carries for 73 yards so far. CAMPBELL 7, O’CONNOR 0, Q1, 3:26.

Campbell fumbles at the O’Connor 29 to end its initial drive. Rare fumble by Bubbah Aina-Chaves. The Eagles go three and out.
