Polynesian Bowl adds Saint Louis QB to 2020 game

Saint Louis quarterback Jayden de Laura, who guided the Crusaders to a 31-19 win over Bishop Gorman on Friday at Aloha Stadium, has been named a 2020 Polynesian Bowl All-Star.

De Laura, a 5-foot-11, 183-pound dual threat behind center, was 23-for-30 for 296 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 55 yards against the Gaels in the Aloha Football Classic, helping Saint Louis jump to No. 8 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 and No. 9 in the USA Today Super 25 national rankings.

De Laura is uncommitted to a college but has offers from Hawaii, San Diego State, Brigham Young and Western Kentucky.

He is currently one of 15 players in the running for the USA Today Super 25 High School Football Top Star in Week 2. You can vote for him by clicking here.

De Laura is the seventh Saint Louis football player selected to the 2020 Polynesian Bowl, joining linebackers Jordan Botelho and Nick Herbig, receivers Roman Wilson and Matt Sykes, safety Kamo’i Latu and defensive tackle Stanley McKenzie.

Other players from Hawaii selected to the game are Mililani defensive lineman Shane Kady and linebacker Muelu Iosefa, Punahou defensive back Alaka’i Gilman and offensive lineman Solatoa Moea’i, Kahuku offensive lineman Micah Soliai-Howlett, Farrington offensive lineman Faaope Laloulu, Waipahu running back Alfred Failauga, Campbell receiver Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala and Kapolei defensive end Maceal Afaese.
