Saint Louis adds its sixth Polynesian Bowl All-Star

Saint Louis safety Kamo’i Latu is the fourth defensive starter on the No. 1-ranked Saint Louis Crusaders football team to be named a 2020 Polynesian Bowl All-Star.

Latu, a 6-foot, 170-pound senior, was named to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State first team as a junior.

He committed to Utah in June over offers from Central Michigan, Colorado, Hawaii, Nebraska, Oregon State, Virginia and Washington State.

The other five Saint Louis players joining Latu in the Polynesian Bowl are linebackers Jordan Botelho and Nick Herbig, receivers Roman Wilson and Matt Sykes and defensive tackle Stanley McKenzie.

The Crusaders play Bishop Gorman in the Aloha Football Classic on Friday night at Aloha Stadium.

Latu is the 15th player currently enrolled in high school in Hawaii selected to the game. The other players are Mililani defensive lineman Shane Kady and linebacker Muelu Iosefa, Punahou defensive back Alaka’i Gilman and offensive lineman Solatoa Moea’i, Kahuku offensive lineman Micah Soliai-Howlett, Farrington offensive lineman Faaope Laloulu, Waipahu running back Alfred Failauga, Campbell receiver Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala and Kapolei defensive end Maceal Afaese.

Two more players from Hawaii will be announced next week on Hawaii Prep World. Approximately eight more slots are open for Hawaii players.

The 2020 Polynesian Bowl will take place Saturday, Jan. 18, at Aloha Stadium featuring 100 of the best high school football players in the country. The majority of the players will be of Polynesian ancestry.
