Six runners went lower than 11 seconds in the 100-meter dash trials at the Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field State Championships on Friday at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, Maui.
The half-dozen speedsters were led by Saint Louis’ Roman Wilson, who ran a personal-best 10.70 seconds.
That time tied for the best in Hawaii so far this season with Seabury Hall’s Noah Payne.
Wilson’s Crusaders teammate Keola Yadao was two hundredths of a second behind in 10.72, and he was followed by Payne (10.76), Punahou’s Vincent Terrell (10.85), Hilo’s Riley Patterson (10.91) and Moanalua’s Rashod Tanner (10.93).
It sets up for a thrilling final on Saturday at 4:40 p.m.
Note: All field and running event finals scheduled for Saturday have been moved one hour up from the originally planned times.
